When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray He gave them a model prayer that Christians call ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. This wasn’t a prayer that was meant to be said like a parrot every day, but rather it was to give us an example of how we are to approach God. Having said that, it can be used on occasions (either publicly in church, OR, in our own personal worship) to give us an outline for prayer, which can be enlarged on as we go through it.
